Came in with pain in the limbs; Came out 12Kgs lighter
A 38-year-old male patient came to Dr. Arshadullah Khan’s surgical clinic (General Surgery Consultant, specializing in Oncology Surgery), he had history of tumour resection a year back and his case was presented as a recurrence locally advance Liposarcoma which was confirmed on initial biopsy.
The patient consulted many hospitals, and was referred to physicians multiple times. After a lot of struggle, he finally landed at Dr Arshad’s clinic. After all metastatic workup, case was presented and discussed in tumour board meeting, surgical resection was finally decided followed by adjuvant radiation therapy. It turned out to be the first step of a health journey for the patient with several twists and turns in a few short weeks.
The patient was deeply moved by Dr Arshad’s dedication, working in his spare time in order to provide better service to his new patient, whom he had just met a few days prior to the diagnosis. The size of the patient’s tumour was almost the size of a football (30x40 cm) with tumour free margins.
Liposarcoma is a rare type of cancer that develops in the fatty tissue & can be grown anywhere in the body. Diagnosis of sarcoma is made by a combination of clinical examination by the doctor, and imaging tests and is confirmed by the results of a biopsy and is then further analysed by skilled pathologist who specializes in these rare types of cancer.
Treating such kind of sarcoma in private sector was not easy. It requires highly skilled surgeon as it involves high risk, and can cause multiple technical difficulties but Dr Arshad’s commitment goes far beyond a single day. This case has been successfully treated by Dr. Arshad with immense support of his entire team and the patient has recovered well after surgery.

الساركوما الشحمية هو نوع نادر من السرطان يتطور في الأنسجة الدهنية ويمكن أن ينمو في أي مكان في الجسم. يتم تشخيص الساركوما من خلال مجموعة من الفحوصات السريررة من قبل الطبيب وصور أشعة مقطعية ويتم تأكيدها من خلال نتائج الخزعة ثم يتم تحليلها من قبل أخصائي علم الأورام المتخصص في هذه الأنواع النادرة من السرطان
لم يكن علاج هذا النوع من الساركوما في القطاع الخاص سهلاً. إنها تتطلب جراحًا ماهرًا لأنها تنطوي على مخاطر عالية ، ويمكن أن تسبب صعوبات فنية طبية متعددة، لكن تفاني الدكتور أرشد يتعدى الحدود. تم علاج هذه الحالة بنجاح من قبل الدكتور أرشد بدعم هائل من فريقه بأكمله وتعافى المريض جيدًا بعد الجراحة
